The man who gave her this tip started a GoFundme after all this went down. In just a couple of days they raised $8,500 for her, and she's had a number of new job offers. Happy Holidays! |

Unfortunately there's that sneaky bit they all have.. terms can change at any time and it's the signee's responsibility to review them though often the contract maker is required to offer fair notification of changes to which most people just say ok or otherwise ignore, which is the same as saying ok. there's a comment here i read that assuming the manager and waitress, and perhaps but not necessarily one or more of the dining party know eachother, can end up spending however much the cost of a meal for 40 (which can be much cheaper than you might expect) and end up walking away with the entire restaurant chains multi-million dollar fortune. ok sure theyre more successful, but maybe they earned it. theres a lot of closet financial dolts here and no its not even about capitalism or not its about effort equaling reward or not. which is why people do (and sometimes dont do) anything. and no. carrying a tray of food 10 to 30 feet yes even 40 times, which i doubt was anywhere near that is not some sort of act of martyrdom or "above and beyond" action. unless smiling and being friendly and receptive is some grueling task. which it can be depending on the crowd admittedly. of course pooling a $4000 tip is unprecedented so was the tip itself. think of the other servers. they should be supporting the restaurant, why dont they? if they believe so wholeheartedly in fairness they can cash their paycheck and give whatever her name is their pool. all this is is bringing attention to some place 349.9 million Americans probably never would have heard of in their lives. so. well played, all. |

The economy is so broke in debt a company owner fires his own waitress for a tip. Are you serious? Last Edited by AndyCafe on 12/13/2021 06:52 PM I’m American with a British father in the UK |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78865921 Canada 12/13/2021 06:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You will get screwed sooner than later. It's as easy as your manager misunderstanding what a look meant after you used "bad tone" (ie you put the wrong words next to each other) during an innocuous conversation. Do it if you have to but they're just going to buy a robot to replace before giving you two weeks at some point in the not too distant future. There is no loyalty. It's you versus them. |

Evidently the other person got to keep the full $2200 (half of the tip for the two), and apparently she or he is still working there. Restaurant claims that she was let go for some other reason. |

I didn't get fired but if I was the only one working for one person and that person happens to give me a HUGE TIP, why should I share with anyone else? They actually told me to do it and I flat out said 'no way'. Of course waitressing is different. But splitting a tip YOU worked for doesn't seem fair in my eyes either. Living has taught me one thing; nothing is certain...except salvation through Jesus Christ! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77876841 United States 12/13/2021 07:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So when someone doesn't want the same dish over and over prepared I don't know half an hour later if you happen to have more than one customer.. that's a very small customer base. You can't have every single person running at best with one person assuming you rationally understand what your saying running some sort of one person food shack running between other food shacks when theyre bored or just sitting there eating what they have while SIMULTANEOUSLY watching whatever farm/crops/source of product they have to ensure not only they dont starve but have something to serve. it doesnt make sense. i get what your saying set your own rules but.. sometimes dudes just be lazy. some will get ahead, some will fall behind. which is fine until those who fall behind try to steal from those who get ahead and.. since theyre ahead have better means to defend themselves. it just never lasts for long man. |
