I can't say how legit Covid is, but whatever the vax is leaking is legit rough. Never lost my smell or taste for 2 weeks, at most 2 days. Never felt like death for 3 weeks before, a week tops. Never felt I couldn't breathe before, and I was worried the Elderberry could make it worse like some claim online, but luckily I had the opposite effect.

Too much sugar, high fructose in Store bought elderberry.

Can you recommend?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81554047

You can make your own. Someone was kind enough to post a recipe and it is easily found online. I use dried elderberries, and in addition to the ingredients in the recipe, I add some ACV. I also cut the honey in half, as we find it too overpoweringly sweet otherwise.

I have also used the OTC Sambucol Black Elderberry with great results.

Re: We had COVID, here is what we did ... (They are lying about the Elderberry)
5 out of the 6 members of my home got COVID.

My son's fiance visited from school a couple weekends ago. While she was here, she woke up sick. She left and was subsequently dx'd with COVID.

A couple days later, my son got sick. Not good bc he has Type 1 Diabetes. It quickly went from him, to my elderly father and mother, then my other son and lastly, my daughter. I seem to have been spared.

I think COVID is the Flu, so I treated it as such.

I immediately began them on a regimen of Oscillococcinum and Elderberry Syrup.

I know they recommend to not use Elderberry for COVID, but after researching it more, I felt comfortable using it. Also, I am at the point that if they tell me to go left, I'm going right. Lol

The Oscillo was VERY effective in reducing the severity of the symptoms. Some spent one day in bed, others two, but no more than that.

Bc of these products, for everyone (except my father) it was like a severe cold or a mild flu. Even for my Type 1 diabetic son, who has been hospitalized twice for the flu in the past.

About my father ... He REFUSED TO TAKE THE ELDERBERRY.

HE is the ONLY one that is not well and is now struggling with pneumonia.

Incidentally, not only is Elderberry very effective for the flu, but it is especially useful to prevent pneumonia. And the only one who didn't take it, GOT PNEUMONIA.

I have some more info to share, but I need to tend to some chores and wanted to get this post out there in case it is useful for anyone.

I remember reading something about elderberry months ago, sounds like it really made a difference. Someone should find a good source online, or just what brand is buyable and legit.

I had it last year. Used quercetin and zinc, along with D3 and C. As well as asprin/tylenol for fever. Had it for a week, and then was fine. Did not know it was the virus. Thought it was the flu.

Then my husband got it. We ran out of quercetin. He ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. Officially diagnosed with the virus. In the hospital for 2 days, fine now.

This year, his son got it and was back to work in four days. We used the ponie p@ste.

If they tell you it doesn't work, well, it probably works.

Thanks! Early on, in 2020, I remember they said not to take Elderberry for Covid. I had marked it down in my notes in case we ever got it, but I had completely forgotten about this until your post! Love Elderberry and have used it often in the past to nip colds/flus in the first day.

Glad you are better! Very interesting about your father's experience!
 Quoting: todaysnewnormal

Elderberry is contraindicated if you are already severely ill from a virus as it will promote the production and circulation of inflammatory cytokines at a time when that can hurt rather than help.

Elderberry is excellent in the beginning stages though, as OP has proven.

Elderberry:
Q: Why is elderberry considered safe for prevention but recommended to stop with symptoms or positive COVID-19 test results?

A: Elderberry extracts may help to prevent the early stage of corona virus infections, which includes COVID-19. Elderberry contains compounds which decrease the ability of viruses to infect cells. Elderberry is considered generally safe and in influenza B (cause of common cold), use of elderberry shortens the duration of symptoms. However, as a part of its immune supportive actions, elderberry increases immune cell release of tiny chemicals called cytokines. Specifically, elderberry increases the release of a cytokine called IL-1B which is a part of the inflammatory reaction to COVID-19 that can result in acute respiratory distress. For this reason, to minimize the possibility that elderberry could aggravate the inflammatory “cytokine storm” associated with the more severe COVID-19 infections, it is recommended to stop elderberry at the first signs of infection (fever, cough, sore throat) and/or if you test positive for the virus.

By the time a cytokine storm may be experienced in a respiratory distress situation, a person would most likely be in a significantly compromised state and may already be in the ICU on lifesaving respiration equipment with care being managed by medical professionals.

It is an AMAZING homeopathic remedy for colds and flu. You can buy it at any Walmart, pharmacy, grocery store.

Best to start to take it at first signs.

There is TONS of science to support the use of Homeopathic remedies for COVID, they just aren't publicized.

Do a quick search. You'll see.

CBC, Canada's taxpayer-funded propaganda network recently did a hit piece of homeopathic remedies that included a covert reporter filming a pharmacist recommending a homeopathic cough syrup for children. CBC insists homeopathic remedies are "sugar pills" or "sugar water" and are a fraud and shouldn't be available in pharmacies or health food stores. The network censored the comment I made that the British royal family use homeopathic doctors even though that information is easily verified online.

Thank you all for your posts. Each Spring I go out and find the elder flowers and then in Autumn collect the berries. Each year more and more places are cut down, so I may end up having to use dried ones in the future.
I had never heard of putting ginger or cinnamon in but will do so in the future.

I clean them up, just cover with water and boil slowly for a while. Strain and add same amount of sugar and boil as though I am going to make jam. Just before the setting stage I leave to cool and add same amount of brandy. The whole recipe is made with love and healing, and always taken with a spoon. I never drink it as a "drink" if that makes sense.

Will certainly add some ginger next year though.
What choice do I have but to be myself? Everyone else was already taken.

Conclusions: Elderberry may be a safe option for treating viral respiratory illness, and there is no evidence that it overstimulates the immune system. However, the evidence on both benefits and harms is uncertain and information from recent and ongoing studies is necessary to make firm conclusions.
