Nope, not well done at all, still haven't been able to watch more than a few minutes of it before having to change.

I find it quite watchable, i mean yea its quite feminist and man hating so far but surely they are following the books quite closely.

End of the day its the quality of the source material..

Thats why Game of Thrones was so good..

Next we need the Asimov Foundation series to come out.

The fact that they skipped the whole Camleyin story and wrote in some weird Tar Valon thing really annoyed me, but they were pretty on-track with the story for episode 7.

start of episode 7 is feminist man hating far fetched nonsense. But it is 2021 what do you expect.

How is it feminist? Robert Jordan wrote that the male half of the Source was tainted by the Dark One during a particular event, thousands of years ago, so only the women can use the Source. That's a key part of the story, very important, later on.

What's been changed is that the characters aren't so innocent country-bumpkin, and they are more diverse than one would expect from a distant mountain town far from anything.

I am okay with it being diverse, so that more people can relate to the characters.. I don't see how someone can think it's been feminized, though..

Also, in the original story, published in 1990, the "Woman's Circle" of Emond's Field are the ones actually in charge of village affairs.

I dont think its been feminized, i suggested its probably following the books, but it still comes across as feminist in my opinion, so that must be how it was written.

I watched this episode yesterday, I am trying to remember the beginning and how it might be perceived as man hating nonsense.. Can you elaborate?

episode 7 starts with an pregnant woman peasant with no armor, kills 10 male warriors who are in full armor, whilst she is giving birth, not using magic, if you can believe that.

Tell me thats not feminist nonsense.

Oh right! Well you need some context for that:

The woman in question is an Aielman, a "Maiden of the Spear", the small group of women Aielman who choose to fight along side the men.

The Aielman are incredibly dangerous fighters, whom at that particular time invaded all the way to Tar Valon, because someone cut down a magical tree they had once given a particular kingdom.

Much later in the story (probably 3-4 seasons away if they make it that far) these Maiden of the Spear "adopt" one of the main characters as their "savior" type.

They are somewhat similar to the Fremen of Dune, highly skilled warriors who live in a very harsh desert environment, some of the best fighters in the world.

Most of them are men. It's just that particular one was important to the story.. But they are all that deadly, even the guys.

That scene was the first time this show had one fighting, it would have been like that regardless of their gender. they had to make it look good, to show how deadly this race of people are!

Keep in mind that this first season is based off book 1 of 14, a book that is 750ish pages long (they get up to 1000 pages at some point).

A whole lot of context and world building has been left out of the show, thus why most of the fans of Wheel of Time aren't too happy about the tv show.
