Anonymous Coward User ID: 80696596 ![]() 12/26/2021 03:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What kind of fear-mongering shit is this? Pitbulls CAN be very dangerous, but most depends on genetics, environment and the owner. Just as any dog can be vicious (same with people) not ALL of them are evil or out to kill. Quoting: JohnRedBeard The ignorance is astounding. Her arms were ripped off, she died. Not sure where the fear mongering came in? WTF world do you live in, corkey? To sit here and claim as most of these morans are, that EVERY pitbull is predisposed to violence is a sign of vast ignorance. Certain bloodlines are worst than others and mutts being the worst. German Shepherds can be just as vicious. The difference is the owner, the commands and the training. Won't actually waste anymore time in this thread but anyone claiming ALL pitbulls will attack clearly base their worldviews on media sensations that litter the internet. This was one of the worst examples of a dog attack, and I'm willing to bet these owners knew fck all about training and temperement. Would you give guns to kids and not teach them how to use them? Would you leave your gun lying around for anyone to get? No, of course not. The excuse that pits are OK if you know how to train them is hollow because you know as well as I do that the majority of people who have pits do not know how to train and won't train their dogs. Everywhere you go, pits and pit mixes fill the shelters - abused dogs awaiting their next ignorant owners. It's no surprise that there are so many issues with them. Other breeds can bite and be vicious, too. But most are not bred to be vicious like pits have been, and bites by most breeds are probably not going to be fatal because the dogs are smaller and have smaller mouths or less strength in their jaws. So really, there is little difference betweeen allowing pits by ignorant owners and giving guns to little kids. Guns are safe in the possession of trained and responsible owners, too. |

Pies are the best dog on earth . The people are the problem . They raised it wrong just like people can be raised wrong. There are more chihuahua bites on a yearly basis than pits . German Shepard’s , rotties , pyranese and dobermans are the most capable of being dangerous . There’s a different personality for every dog and every dog needs a person who understands how to raise them . I have seen pits protect my family from a bear that was 10x his size . He slept with the chickens and never harmed another animal ever . Those people who are talking about culling a species are the problem . They are the ones who need to be re educated . Quoting: Hazmat420 Thank you so much for saying this… the attitude of “eradication” for any thing living on this earth is a big problem… The circle of life is very delicate and when you start messing with that circle and start thinking you can eradicate things, well that ms a slippery slope, isn’t it?! Are you starting to think you are some type of God that you would know better?! and THAT REMINDS ME OF HOW THE NAZI TALKED. Everything has a time and place for this world, it is part of the circle of life. It is such a delicate balance. Pit bull or pit type dogs now account for 20% of dogs in the US. Stupid people who want pits and are too dumb to fix them or train them are actually leading to the eradication of more gentle breeds. And the "no kill" shelters misrepresent these dogs and call them labs, boxers, or mixed terriers. The people don't know anything about the dogs or their backgrounds. The first time junior pulls Fido's tail or drops a cookie on the floor and goes to grab it as the dog tries to snatch it, he ends up in the ER with 20 stitches on his cheek. Just sayin... ruser User ID: 79681794 12/26/2021 05:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm always sad to read about these pit bull stories. I personally have had multiple interactions with them - (dogsitting, friends, and I had a job that required I gain access into people's yards). The one time I was met with aggression (in a yard) - I was able to calm the dog down. My friends pit bull was a sheep killer - she got out once - and killed a sheep - it happened really fast. They are a very strong dog. And they need to be TRAINED by a skilled owner. I think they would be am ultimate "defense/security" animal - but still sort to read this. ruser |

The exact reason we don't have lions and tigers and bears running loose in city and suburban streets is because it is well known that they are dangerous and therefore unable to be kept as pets. Your logic is complete crap. But we do have snakes running lose in city and suburban streets and it is well know that there are many venomous species. Worldwide, up to five million people are bitten by snakes every year, compared to 4.5 million by dogs. Of these, poisonous snakes cause an estimated 2.4 million envenomations (poisonings from snake bites) and 94,000–125,000 deaths annually, with an additional 400,000 amputations and other severe health consequences, such as infection, tetanus, scarring, contractures, and psychological sequelae. Of dogs of all breeds, nearly 885,000 seek medical care; 30,000 have reconstructive procedures; 3–18% develop infections and between 10 and 20 fatalities occur. Using the logic relating to "pit bulls" (which do not exist and is not a recognized breed by the AKC), snakes should be exterminated from the planet.
