Amazon has updated its Alexa voice assistant after it "challenged" a 10-year-old girl to touch a coin to the prongs of a half-inserted plug.

The suggestion came after the girl asked Alexa for a "challenge to do".

"Plug in a phone charger about halfway into a wall outlet, then touch a penny to the exposed prongs," the smart speaker said.

And AI is going to be just great.

While I applaud both child and bot, for seeking adventure, I have to think that the story didn't indicate the kid did it.

That shows a lack of fortitude!

I guess the penny challenge was a TikTok challenge about a year ago according to the article so she may have just Googled it. But I would assume AI would be smarter than that and know exactly what they were telling her to do.
