Blackberry phones dead after January 4th

That's exactly why the media started reporting all the manufactured Blackberry hate propaganda. It was to drive the business away from them and to let Apple and Android take over sales so the mass spying could go on.
There was nothing wrong with those phones as far as the consumer was concerned. They couldn't root them and Blackberry wouldn't give the codes up to expose a backdoor for spying. The phones are exactly what we need now. I hope all the people that bad mouthed them realizes this but to little too late.

They said my Samsung 5 would stop working the 1st, but they extended it to March now.

I like my phone.. I'm forced to choose a new one now. I hardly use the damn thing, but I do use it so will choose a new one. Ticks me off.

I have a BB, been using them for a long time.

Main reason is that they have (or used to) their own operating system that wasn't and isn't hacked by everyone and their brother.

Tracfone kept sending me texts over a year ago telling me I needed to get a new fone that would work with 5G. I kept putting it off and then it seemed like calls weren't getting through or being cut off so I got a new one.

I rarely use mine either. But it is nice for GLPing while laying on the couch.

Get an Android phone that can run /e/OS and be relatively free of Google.

What a bummer. I still have a Blackberry myself for one of my phones. Shows how we're being coerced into many things these days.

The Ontario Government today cancelled public schools for "2 weeks" and have shut down all indoor dining at restaurants, shut down gyms and other facilities effective Jan 5th.
