The entire govt is liberal. They write laws that favor their ideals snd then they are in charge of the filings we submit for recalls etc. they rewrote recall petitions that were so ridiculous that one little mistake( like signing your name slightly out of the box) by a signer nullified a page of 20 signatures. They were also in charge of all the vote counting and planning. We tried for decades...there’s a point you just can’t fight them anymore. We’re getting older snd don’t have the fight left snd so we move where we feel we’ll be politically happy. My husband and I moved this year from CA and we now are in a conservative local group in our new state. |

There are some good lakes- used to be a lot- but corporate plants are polluting them at a faster rate now and they are being sucked dry so the people in expanding cities can water their lawns. There are the Davis mountains out by Marfa, near the border of Mexico, and Austin area used to be lovely and cool but now it is overcrowded times 10 and traffic is a nightmare. DFW area and Houston are nightmares period, and boring- and maybe the worst so called freeways in the US. Austin – high taxes, expensive housing, aggressive drivers, and frenetic bustle. I want to leave. And, I don’t regret leaving the Austin of today. I am nostalgic about leaving the Austin that I knew – Texas-friendly, slow-paced, and beautifully undeveloped. Now, it is gone. I know...everything changes. But, for so many years, I saw Austin as a goal, a lifestyle destination. It is difficult to reorient my perspective. It is true. In this life, we ultimately lose everything that  we love.I, too, am nostalgic for the old Texas, but it left me. |
