US tells Russia to prove it by sending troops back to their barracks. Senior US and Russian officials met Monday to discuss tensions surrounding Ukraine and the Russian forces nearby. Russia insisted, as it has before, that it does not have plans to invade Ukraine. The US side said that Russia can prove that by sending troops back to their barracks or explaining its intentions. [link to www.msn.com (secure)] Russian Foreign Ministry Says it Wants to Test US Decision-Making Ability The first US-Russian meeting on security issues took place on 9 January; it was a preliminary dinner meeting. Ryabkov represented the Russian side and Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman represented the U.S. side. The Russian deputy foreign minister said the conversation was complex and "terrific". "I think we won't waste time tomorrow,"- Ryabkov said after the conversation. The main part of the discussions will take place on 10 January in a closed format on the premises of the US post office at the UN Office in Geneva. The NATO-Russia Council will meet in Brussels on 12 January, followed by talks between Russian and OSCE representatives in Vienna on 13 January. In mid-December 2021, Russia forwarded to the U.S. and NATO draft security assurance agreements. The document includes clauses on NATO non-proliferation to the east, non-accession to the alliance by the former Soviet states, and a ban on military activities on the territory of Ukraine. "Ukraine and Georgia will never, ever join NATO." "Deadly wrong to use the Bucharest Memorandum." How glowing hot the red line is spoken of, that it is white hot! Russia is so confident in its correct approach that we get a diplomat going full disclosure live stream immediately after the meetings. There were no spins or deflections. Straight words, clearly the same Sherman heard. The US is left with calling Russia's hand. You can bet the NATO meeting will be more of the same. Brussels thinks Russia is bluffing. They want Russia to back off Ukraine before anything is addressed regarding Russia's security concerns. I would suggest this: The Russian troops will back up the exact equivalent to the Ukie heavy equipment retreat from the contact zone in Donbass (following the Minsk 2 Accords which mandates 75 kilometers from the contact zone.) They want movement, get the Ukies to move. And if they don't move, Mr. Kalibr, Tor and Tos will get them to move. I'd give them 48 hours to do so. NATO is hiding behind the Ukies. They fear not having a depth of cannon fodder in front of them. Russia is calling their bluff, not the other way around. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5781511 Exactly. And it wont be a fight against some terrorists in caves or insurgents in the streets. It will be a war with a country that has no choice but to engage in strategic nuclear war and that has a long history of great sacrifice to obtain it's objectives. Russia did not build up its military as a police force to dominate the planet, their strategy is survival. While the USA was lulled into a sense of complacency the communist plant Ronald Reagan, Russia was preparing to survive a nuclear war. They cut loose their satellites and allowed them to either come back into the fold willingly, or dangle in the wind with NATO. Over 80 percent of their population has a shelter to go to in the event of a nuclear war. In the USA it is less than 1 percent. They see nuclear war as winnable and to be blunt if I were in Putins shoes I would be considering a first strike. |

The government IS NOT the people, or the country, in fact this government only represents approximately 2 percent of the population.. Almost all of our founders were in fact citizens of England. They did not hate their ancestral country, they hated its government, as I hate this one...Nothing but sell outs and traitors who have sworn oaths to an enemy. A patriot is not one who fights for a government or a salutes a flag. Most often it is one who fights against one that has overstepped its bounds and has abused the people. We are half past that point now. The revolution was not fought against the subjects of the monarchy, but against the monarchy itself. Anyone who is telling you liberalism is not the founding principal of this nation is lying to you. |
