Even all the crappy banquet mystery meat patty tv dinners are gone. |

I think they're not replenishing stock to create illusion of profit. That's certainly something to consider. If the shopper is under the impression that stock is dwindling, are they statistically more likely to panic buy and spend more per visit? |

If the shopper is under the impression that stock is dwindling, are they statistically more likely to panic buy and spend more per visit? It's true. It works on me, I remember the great toilet paper shortage of 2020. I have a meager supply of preps, maybe enough canned goods and flour to last about 1 1/2 months. But even after seeing that picture I started thinking maybe I should add another months worth if I can afford it (which I really can't right now). Can't panic buy lol. In the last week I have been to Sam's Kroger and Lowes, all were full no gaps no empty shelves. The Lowes was so full the garden area had 60% of the isles full of pallets. |

If the shopper is under the impression that stock is dwindling, are they statistically more likely to panic buy and spend more per visit? yeah there's that too. but I was saying that they're turning existing stock into cashflow to keep the store open. I saw this often in last 2 recessions. . |

Quoting: Mithradates That might very well be true. They are spreading panic everywhere, with COVID, and now shortages, and it makes people afraid. I don't argue against being prepared though. That's just wise and common sense depending where you live. I live in a major wild fire area, been through one evacuation (completely unprepared), and stood one out. I finally decided to put a few preps together and a bug out bag, etc. But the panic being spread now is far beyond the idea of being prepared for one of your local disasters (whether it be tornadoes, earthquakes, wild fires, etc). |

CuriouserAndCuriouser (OP) User ID: 60746064 ![]() 01/11/2022 03:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's not to hard to prep moderately. It's quite easy, just each time you go to the store, buy an extra can or two of chili, soup, whatever and add it to your store. It adds up over time. You don't need to be like these people who buy up a whole shelf of soup, or a whole shelf of rice. It will most likely just end up going to waste. |

It was hell just getting product all around, not just produce. This week, the store is in decent condition - we even have chicken! |

Most of the pandemic it was pretty good except for spot shortages. Now you can see the trucks are not arriving in time to make the shelves look full. The pet food aisle was decimated. |
