It all began in a little goldsmith’s shop in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1773. The proprietor of the shop, 30 year-old Mayer Amschel Bauer, had an obsession: he wanted power and wealth. In actual fact, he wanted much more than that—he wanted to rule the world! To anyone else, this was a ridiculous dream. But to Bauer, it was an attainable goal if one had the proper plan of action and the resources to finance it. The obstacle that stood in his way concerned his lack of personal resources, and projected income, which prohibited him from implementing his plan of action within his lifetime. If he were to try for the gold ring, he would have to have help.
In that year, Bauer invited twelve wealthy acquaintances to a meeting at his shop. The purpose of the meeting was to convince them to pool their fortunes to finance a world revolutionary movement—which they would control—with the ultimate purpose of gaining the wealth, natural resources, and control over the population of the entire civilized world. After the guests had gathered he explained the purpose of the meeting and quickly outlined his ideas: by combining their wealth, and cleverly manipulating it in the form of loans to sovereign governments until the governments were well within their debts, they could create crises and economic conditions that would range from prosperity to unemployment, peace to war, which would in turn force the governments to borrow more money—which would put them even more into debt to the conspirators. Bauer summed up his feelings concerning the true base of power when he said: “Permit me to control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes the laws."
When the twelve conspirators agreed to pool their resources, Bauer presented his plan and its ideology in detail:
1. Paid propagandists will arouse feelings of hatred and revenge against the ruling classes by exposing real and alleged cases of extravagance, licentious conduct, injustice, oppression and persecution. They will also discredit anyone who might discover, and subsequently interfere with, our goals.
2. The first principle to remember is that Law is Force in disguise. By the laws of nature, right lies in force.
3. Political freedom is an idea, not a fact. In order to usurp political power all that is necessary is to preach “Liberalism” so that the electorate, for the sake of an idea, will yield some of its power and prerogatives into our hands.
4. The power of gold usurps the power of Liberal rulers. It is immaterial to the success of our plan whether the established governments are destroyed by external or internal foes, because the victor has to, of necessity; ask for capital which is entirely in our hands.
5. The use of any and all means to reach our final goal is justified on the grounds that the ruler who governs by moral code is not an effective politician. His morality demonstrates weakness and leaves him in a vulnerable position.
6. Our right lies in force. The word “right” is an abstract thought and proves nothing. “Right” means to attack by the Right of the Strong, to reconstruct all existing institutions, and to become the sovereign lord of all those who leaves to the enterprise the rights to their powers by laying them down in their liberalism.
7. The power of our resources must remain invisible until the very moment when our movement has gained such strength that no cunning or force can undermine it.
Bauer went into more detail as he read addressed particular points that would be used to ensure success of the, plan:
8. Alcoholic liquors, drugs, moral corruption and vice will be used to corrupt the youth of all nations.
9. After gaining sufficient power, we have the right to seize property by any means without hesitation.
10. Our slogan, issued to the masses, will be “Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. [These words became the battle cry of the French Revolution a few years later].
11. Wars will be directed so that the nations engaged on both sides will be further in debt to our enterprise.
12. Candidates for public office will be servile and obedient to our commands, so that they might readily be used.
13. The combined wealth of the organization will control all outlets of public information.
14. Contrived and controlled panics and financial depressions will ultimately result in World Government—a new order of one-world government.
At the end of the meeting the pact was finalized and the plan put into motion.
Mayer Amschel Bauer, adopting the red shield of the coat of arms of Frankfort as his new symbol, changed his family name accordingly to Rothschild (Red Shield).
For the next 150 years, the Rothschilds gained wealth, power and influence in every country in Europe. After proper training and guidance, Mayer’s five sons established banks in Vienna, Naples, London, Paris, and Frankfort. Each bank, following the original plan formulated in 1773, made its money by loaning operating capital—mostly during times of war and national emergency—to the governments of the respective countries. It was in this fashion that the Rothschilds, who eventually bought out their former partners, gained control over the crowned heads of Europe. By following Mayer’s plan, wars were financed on both sides by Rothschild banks, and it made little difference to the bankers who won or lost. Both sides would still owe a collectible debt, in both cash and favors, to the Rothschilds.
One example of playing both sides against the middle came during the Napoleonic War. The Rothschilds had created a system of couriers that could deliver important information between their banks—and subsequently between the heads of state—throughout Europe. Because of the importance of their messages, the couriers, identified by a distinctive red pouch they carried, were granted free passage across borders without fear of being stopped or questioned. Even during fierce battles, when the Rothschild couriers approached, the fighting stopped long enough to let them pass unmolested. For each side knew that the couriers not only carried Rothschild bank documents, but messages between their governments that might influence the war. The Rothschild messengers became the first diplomatic couriers.
During the battle of Waterloo, when Napoleon and his Grande Army faced the Duke of Wellington, Nathan Rothschild sat in the London bond market and watched the trading fluctuate as rumors flew regarding what was happening across the Channel. The English bond speculators realized that if Napoleon won the battle, there would be nothing to keep him from controlling all of Europe—possibly even England. Should that come to pass, the government bonds they possessed would become worthless.
Realizing that the only up-to-date news from the front would arrive with the Rothschild couriers, each investor carefully monitored the reactions of Nathan Rothschild as his messengers arrived with their red pouches and whispered news into his ear. Each time this happened, Rothschild shook his head, looked down and appeared almost to weep. Even between the arrivals of the messengers he looked glum. This could only mean one thing, reasoned the bond-holders: Wellington was losing the battle.
The price of bonds fell drastically by the hour. Large quantities of bonds were dumped on the market, and as it so happens, the value continued to plummet. The more the prices fell, the more gloomy Nathan looked.
Unknown to the English bond holders, Rothschild had agents on the floor buying the English bonds as fast as they were offered. By the time an official English army courier arrived with the news that Wellington had won the Battle of Waterloo, Nathan Rothschild—and the House of Rothschild—owned the British government.
Many books have been written about the Rothschilds rise to power, the international banking cabal, and the secret societies and organizations used by the power brokers to gain and retain control of governments. For the purposes of this work, we will confine ourselves to what has transpired in the two centuries following the American Revolution.
For the student of history and economics, it should be noted that Washington’s army was “financed’ by banks who created paper money that was not backed by gold or silver. The “Continental Dollar,” as the currency was dubbed, was issued only on good faith (much like today’s Federal Reserve Notes), and since it was not borrowed from any reputable banking establishment, it contained no provision for the paying of interest to those who created it out of nothing. By the end of 1776, the Continental Dollar commanded only forty cents on the dollar when exchanged for silver coin. Still, the presses cranked the notes out and by 1777 over $240 million worthless Continentals were in circulation. By this time they brought no more than 2.5 cents on the dollar. Two years later they had fallen in value to less than half-a-cent per dollar. By the end of the war it took five hundred paper Continentals to buy one silver dollar.
The situation was so grim that several politicians began to extol the virtues of opening a new “central bank.” Such a bank, according to such men as Alexander Hamilton—who felt that average people could not handle their own money and should leave that up to the wealthy who were more fiscally responsible—would be able to control inflation by establishing and maintaining the prime interest rate, the amount of money in circulation, and also be able to loan money to the government. Hamilton proposed that a Bank of the United States, similar in make-up to the Bank of England (the Rothschild bank located in London), would be a profit-making institution that was privately owned, but would have access to public funds. It would have the power to create money out of nothing, and loan it, with interest, to the Federal government.
Thomas Jefferson disagreed. “If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”
Hamilton, on the other hand, argued that: “No society could succeed which did not unite the interest and credit of rich individuals with those of the state. All communities divide themselves into the few and the many. The first are rich and well-born, the other the mass of people. The people are turbulent and changing; they seldom judge or determine right.’
Jefferson responded that the banking establishment, if given the power, would inflate and deflate the quantity of money at will, which in turn creates a ‘series of oppressions of the people.” He wrote that: single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; that a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministry, too plainly prove a deliberate systematical plan of reducing us to slavery.”
How perceptive.
Unfortunately, George Washington, in 1788, appointed Alexander Hamilton as his Secretary of the Treasury. Three years later the government of the United States granted a twenty year charter to its first civilian-controlled national bank, the First Bank of the United States. Jefferson argued valiantly against the move by Washington and Hamilton, quoting Article 1, Section 8, of the Constitution regarding the fact that “The Congress shall have the power to coin money, regulate the value thereof and no reference is made to private bankers receiving this privilege. He went on to state that Congress did not have the right or authority to pass this power to any other agency—especially a privately owned entity that could print money that was not backed, then loan it, with interest, to the government.
Jefferson’s words fell on deaf ears. But in 1811, when the Bank’s first charter lapsed, President James Monroe refused to renew it.
This act on the part of the president was followed just a few months later by yet another war, the War of 1812. Again, the government found that the tax base could not support the conflict at hand and money would have to be borrowed. This would require, according to Henry Clay and John C. Calhoun, another national bank, “The Second Bank of the United States.” Again the banking cartel, ironically “financed” by the Rothschild-controlled Bank of England (who generously loaned money to both sides), won out. This action, within two years, raised the $45 million public debt left over from the Revolution to $127 million.’
In 1816, the Second Bank of the United States was re-chartered for twenty years. During this time the bank “loaned” the government a further $60 million, created out of paper bonds that were little more than fancy ink on paper. The interest paid back, however, was in the hard specie of gold and silver. That same year Jefferson again tried to warn the American people—at least those who were literate and capable of influencing politicians—that the entire affair was not only crooked, it was dangerous to the fledgling country. “I believe,” he wrote, “that the banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a money aristocracy that has set the Government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the Government, to whom it properly belongs.”
This did not happen, and it took until 1834 to pay off the debt incurred during the War of 1812. But by that time the government found itself again in need of further funding due to westward expansion, which required a military force to escort settlers, fight Indians, and take and hold more land. This early “Third World” type of action was followed in 1846 by the Mexican war, and more expansion to the west.
Then came the Civil War.
