I had cancer and couldn't mow my lawn for a while... so I PAID some one to mow it for me until I was strong enough.
If this asshole son has the money to fly to Bangladesh, he could have contracted with someone to help his Dad and follow local laws.

Such an overgrown yard will take much more time than 3 months to overgrown to such a mess.
As soon as I read the family comes from Bangladesh I knew what was really going on:
Mildly put,these people have a different view on life and how trimmed a yard should look like.
A trashy looking yard is certainly not an issue for them.
That's why you can immediately see by the looks of how well kept a neighborhood is if more Whites or more POC live there.

That being said, if neighbors knew their neighbor was ill, why didn't they pitch in to help keep the place looking decent? I agree nobody wants to live next to that kind of thing, but neighbors can help out.
