The feral cats come to my door everyday for food but I DO NOT pet them and they still maintain their distance
This one will come and rub on my legs and hiss at me
The majority of feral cats DO NOT know how to meow, that is a learned thing
So, she will hiss and that means she loves me and wants some food

Many of them are probably healthy if they have enough food and are in a certain climate. They would probably need to be dewormed and fixed though.
