There are now concrete plans to sabotage the nuclear power plants and chemical facilities in Sweden. Russia has no interest in Sweden as such. Any action against Sweden would just be for strategic reasons as part of a bigger war against all of NATO.

Which naturally means only a minimal Russian force could be set aside to fight Sweden. And even though Sweden's military forces are small, they're well trained and professional, and their equipment is modern, so it would not be a free lunch for Russia.

Some highlights of Sweden's defense capabilities:


ARMY:

48 truck mounted artillery units, the Archer Artillery System. These are advanced Swedish-developed guns with Multiple Round Simultaneous Impact-mode, which means that several shells are fired in succession with different trajectories so they hit the target simultaneously.

NAVY:
5 Swedish-developed submarines, 3 of them of the Gotland class, which is the most advanced diesel-electric subs in the world, very silent, and all but impossible to find. As the US found out when they hired one of them for a year for training purposes. The US navy was unable to find the sub, even as it repeatedly positioned itself within strike distance from a carrier.

AIR FORCE:
71 JAS 39C Gripen fighter jets. These Swedish-developed fighters are fully modern and utterly destroy modernized F-16's in exercises. They also have the upper hand against Russian Sukhois in simulations, which only the F-22 does of US fighters. These jets are very reliable, and were the only ones to fly all planned sorties in joint NATO operations (where Sweden flew surveillance missions). They are armed with the most modern and powerful missiles, and they are fully interoperable with NATO electronic systems.


There's more stuff than those of course, I just picked a few top items to describe. As you noticed, they're all Swedish-developed. Sweden is actually one of the leading weapons exporters on the planet, ranking #4 per capita.

Point is, the Swedish armed forces would at least be a strong irritant to the Russians, and might be enough to convince them to go around Sweden rather than through it.
