Almost a year ago, end of Feb, my son flew from Newark or JFK, I forget which at this point, to Thailand, where he is an English and History teacher. The flight went to Japan and then another to Bangkok.

The plane from the USA was one of those huge ones that hold 700 or 800 people and he was one of four- 4- yes only 4- passengers.

It was pretty much the same from Japan.

He heard the same thing- the routes are contracted with the government, not with the airports. And they only way to keep a popular route you don't want to lose is to keep flying the planes.

Um the largest airliner in the world holds about 490, just wanted to point that out . [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

it depends on total number of class tiers

1-2 class tiers means many more passengers

yes up to the 800+

3-4 class tiers cuts that by hundreds
