This only shows up on the XRay filter. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80423126 [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov (secure)] Logic would dictate that if it only shows up in one filter it could well be an abberation. The sun's background displays a regular, chequer-board pattern. Should I immediately believe that space has a chequer-board structure? |

I thought the same thing until i watched it frame by frame and hashed out the chain of events. The anomaly happens two frames before the flare begins. I've been watching solar flares for 3 decades. There is no lens flare before the flare begins. |

It could also be a beam from a device that only shows up in that filter. |

I match data points from several sources and hypothesize. NASA is not the only source of data, nor is that the only or primary source I use. You won't have the capacity to understand that until you start watching the sun like I do. |
