I'm retired, so is wife. She retired on disability which is less than what her SS would be. Did this for 2 reasons. We get 400+ in food stamps and she is on Medicare while I'm on a spend down plan with the state.
The freebies we get keeping her on disability offset by several hundred a month if I'd put her on SS and then bust all the thresholds for free anything.
The system sucks, but that's what we paid for with 45 years of work and the politicians lining their pockets with their own separate retirement system.
