I'm studying sociology and for a project I decided to examine vegans. before this I was a proud member of Peta. People who Eat Tasty Animals. hmm. that is a tasty burger!! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 369854anyways. so I adhered to a strict vegan diet. I went to a doctor before and after the 90 days. I'm a healthy person btw. so. I go to the doctor after he took tests at the end of the 90 day period. And he told me to stop what I was doing. My immune system would start to really take a beating after that. low iron and all that stuff. So anyways. I came to the conclusion that vegans are unhealthy people. Even if they are physically fit. Tofo isn't exactly the most edible product out there. just my 2 cents. back to that tasty burger... signed... thankful to the hunter gatherers of history... ... whilst I for sure hear ya there, I also thinks that folks who are into being vegetarians also tend to know how to adjust themselves accordingly.... have you asked any about the iron thang? |

A good friend of mine who's a vegan has a dangerously low iron count. they just found that out after a yearly checkup Quoting: Anonymous Coward 369854... okay okay, lol, I just googled 'vegans and iron deficiency'... and this is what I found real quick... "Dried beans and dark green leafy vegetables are especially good sources of iron, even better on a per calorie basis than meat. Iron absorption is increased markedly by eating foods containing vitamin C along with foods containing iron. Vegetarians do not have a higher incidence of iron deficiency than do meat eaters." |
