Ford 150 torn to pieces! Evaporator Core replacement. This guy has to tear apart the dash and center console on this pickup to replace an AC assembly. The issue is a $20 sensor, which of course is not available for purchase, you have to buy the entire $1,000 evap core. Quoting: CharlieFoxtrot Good post OP. Everyone with the means should own a pre-1980s car, especially preppers. EMP proof. Easy to repair. I myself own a 1971 Dodge and I love to start that engine and hear that baby purr… Like I told my ex-wife, I said: honey, I never drive faster than I can see. Besides that, it’s all in the reflexes… |

Been heading this way since the early 2000s. Now most cars are disposable because they essentially are not worth fixing very early in their existence. The thing about this that really gets my goat: anyone bitching about the carbon footprint of my 25 year old jeep. The auto industry wants you in a new car every 3 to 5 years. So that's 5 cars I DID NOT buy... the metal mining, the manufacturing and fabrication, shipping and delivery, etc. Now you explain to me how keeping and fixing one 25 year old car contributes a larger carbon footprint than buying and using 5 throwaway cars over the same time period. We are surrounded by Idiots in idiocracy, slurping up, justifying, and championing whatever toxic narrative they've spoon fed to their own death and detriment, just like with the v a x. |

I can maintain it myself at one third of the cost of taking it to a shop. The spare parts are cheap and readily available, and it's fun to tinker with it. |

But I guess climate control is so much better than operating a switch every 10 minutes. |

I'll look for the video. AH the heck with it. He makes so many damn videos and they all have misleading titles, I'll never find it. It was the same kind of issue though. The really great part about that is when you take it in for service, they can download the what the car knows. How long it's been running, how fast you drove it, where the car has been.... but best of all, everything your phone synced! Your calls, contacts, texts, web sites, and maybe emails too! Your car dealer needs that information to make better cars tomorrow. |

They didn’t like people being able to fix their own cars. Plus, when the EMP goes off, they will all be very expensive paper weights Sic Semper Tyrannis. The F in Communism stands for Food. Plus, the new age business model is; customers don't own it when they buy it. The IP (intellectual property) in the product remains the company's, therefore, it is now being argued that so does the actual product. You just get to pay for the use and maintenance (with their permission of course... permissions given through an integrated online network that NY device is connected to), of their product. Seems fair. In this new world, you pay to borrow things from the rich, so they don't care how long it takes you to get it (they're product) fixed for them... in fact, they own the repair shops too... so the longer, and more convoluted the process, the better! |

Lets check their Social Credit Score... Only good little robots, that maintain our assets for us in a timely manner, get the privilege of driving one of our cars for us. Soon we'll all be pigeon holed into the roles, and the daily schedule that they want for each of us. All others' are dispensable. If you look with eyes open, you can see how even repairing your car is slowly training you to accept increasing restrictions on your freedoms... but it's easier right? So we'll all be happy. |

Just out 5:30 this morning to meet vendor at warehouse and personal vehicle 06/F150 lost power and I got to side of road. Last week I died at gas station and had jump pack and got it home both times. Not the battery or alternator. But you all are right, should next personal vehicle be even older than this? Perhaps yes! wolf7719 |

They denied warranty because there was a crack in the tail light that filled with water. The egc harness and frame harness had corrosion at the connector under the passenger side towards the front. They claim water went from back left tail light to connector under passenger door. I removed the tail light and it was dry no corosion and the light still worked. Looking at 5000 to repair |
