Alec Baldwin FIRED 18 INCHES AWAY AT CINEMATOGRAPHER MIDSECTION
A crew member detailed the moment Halyna Hutchins was hit with a live round from a gun actor Alec Baldwin was holding during a new interview.

Special effects coordinator Thomas Gandy was about four to five yards away from Baldwin and Hutchins before the gun went off on the set of "Rust" on Oct. 21.

"Halyna was telling Alec she wanted to see his thumb working the hammer back to do the shot," Gandy recalled during ABC's 20/20 episode "The Deadly Take."

Hutchins was probably 18 inches or two feet away from the muzzle of the gun when it was fired, according to Gandy.

Lmao.

Not unless he put the live round in the firearm.

The armorer bears sole responsibility because she was responsible for ensuring firearms were secured when not in use, were not loaded when provided to actor, etc.

Alec walks as he rightly should and armorer is convicted.

Watch and learn!

He used a firearm the armorer gave him. All actors operate on the presumption that it is safe under those circumstances.

The dearth of logic or critical thinking skills here on glp, annoys me to no end.

She directed him to pull the hammer back. Neither one of them expected it would cause the gun to release a dummy round or bullet after he took his finger off.. a live round must have been in the box of dummy rounds or maybe an entire box of live rounds was labeled as dummy and the armored loaded the gun with what she thought were dummy rounds.
Now she is suing the company that supplied the dummy rounds.
Will be interesting to see this case get solved.

Therefore anyone at anytime could have tampered with it, and anyone accepting a gun against protocol without checking it is liable.

She was responsible for doing a precheck in the presence of the actor and immediately receiving the firearm after its use. That did not occur and Alex being an actor for 40 years with dozens of gun films knew this.

You don’t grab a random gun from a production aid not check it and fire it in someone’s direction.

hesright

It's clear that Alec Baldwin either lacks any type of basic firearms training or was flagrantly negligent or both. Regardless, there is no good excuse for "an accident" like this -- totally preventable.

A few basics on gun safety for those who don't know:

1. Never point the muzzle in the direction of anything you don't intend to shoot and/or kill.
2. Know what is behind your target before firing.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
4. Keep the action open until ready to fire.
5. Keep the firearm unloaded until ready to fire.
6. Keep the safety on until ready to fire.
7. Always check to see if a firearm is loaded when you pick it up.
8. Always unload a gun and open the action before handing it off to someone.
9. Ensure that the ammunition you are using is suitable for the firearm you are using and the situation at hand.

....

Now, if you've read and internalized those items above, you probably know more than Alec Baldwin about firearms safety. If you can do those things when you handle a firearm, the probability that there could be a preventable accident is low.

The process ends with yearly gun safety instruction Alex had including never pointing any prop like gun in the direction of a person, always inspecting any prop gun yourself, and ONLY accepting a prop from a licensed armor while on set.

All I am saying is he was absolutely aware
A he did not get it from the armorer
B he was handling a gun Outside the scheduled time.
C the designations for a safe set were not in place for gun use
D Breech of atleast 5 universal firearm safety points he was trained on
E he was the director who is required EVEN MORE training and paperwork to include a firearm scene. He was responsible for himself with the gun AND the whole GD safety process around guns!!!!
