Maybe try a electronics repair shop. Even if they dont have a suitable item, likely they know collectors of such things that might have something in your price range. Best of luck.

You will need...

Water filter.... Sawyer squeeze. 30.00us bucks

Fire starters... Lighters, fire steel (magnesium) 10 - 20 bucks

Knife... 3- 4 inches, Mora 20.00 bucks

Shelter, keep warm, (sleeping bag, mat, clothing (wool prefered) good socks, etc...

Cookware, food, means to hunt/ protection...

At least get started, seems like alot, but, get started the more you learn the less you will need,


Watch TV show 'Alone', they just take 10 items and go out into harsh areas and survive... Get good ideas, do's and don'ts...

Thank you so much for your reply! I bought a key chain fire starter a couple years ago and was trying to figure it out but couldn’t. (After watching earlier episodes of ‘Survivor’)
Finally asked my father last year and he was trying to help me but then passed away so I had nobody else to help me.

Another question, if you don’t mind. I was trying to watch survivor type shows, and ‘Alone’ seems to bring a recall in my memory. A lot of them seem to be fabricated though. In fact, is the one you’re referring to the one where they aren’t even clothed?

Don't watch that staged up survivor bullshit. If you really gotta watch something, go to Utube and look at how to build a shelter and how to make a stove from mud, that kind of shit. Better yet, find some damn woods by your house, take your shit out there and spend a day and a night. That will begin to teach you what you need to know. Sitting on your ass watching videos just won't cut it when the chips are down.

I think those Chai (sp) require fuel? Maybe I'm wrong, on DaveWest youtube you can easily learn friction fire (fire rolling) and other methods when resources are low. He's a good teacher.

The greatest asset you will have is a desire to make it and to improvise, use what you have stay positive.

Remember water filters freeze, keep them warm if cold out, so learn basic filtration and boil the water too

If you bug out with vehicle plan ahead... You'll need a water source, and less people the better...

And all fat sources you will need, fat is your friend. We should all be putting on healthy layer of fat now. Balance don't go over board..

Look for USB/LSB/SSB Upper sideband/lower sideband/ single sideband.
Do not buy a receiver without these modes.

My sister and I couldn’t get American music unless you had a shortwave radio. Looking back, this was AWESOME, now I’d just like to get the same. (For different reasons, obviously...)

I think thats naked and afraid, most of those shows are fakes unfortunately. But, give Alone a chance, if you don't like it pic a youtube prepper you like and can learn from...
