University of Northampton has put a trigger warning on George Orwell’s dystopian novel, 1984.

Orwell was a writer. An artist. He was born into an upper middle class family at the height of the British Empire. He went reluctantly into the Imperial Police in India as a young man. His experiences there made him hate British colonialism, the oppression of subject races, the hypocrisy and stupidity of the system he served, the appalling cruelty to animals - read Death of an Elephant - as well as people. Back in England - then the most powerful Empire on earth - he turned against everyting he had been brought up to believe and set himself to champion the vast underclass. He was an outcast from his own kind. In the 1920's and 30's he wrote about the artists and intellectuals who surrounded him, who were almost wholly given over to worship of Russian Communist Totalitarianism. He had humour - he pointed out [ in vain ] that come the revolution that they so desired they would be the first to the firing squad and the gulags. At one and the same time another huge movement was on the rise - Fascism. The British elite that he personally had rejected were Fascists at heart. The King himself was an admirer of Hitler. Between these two great Behemoths that had in common the oppression & subjection of anyone and everyone who did not agree with them Orwell set himself and his words.
1984 is as prophetic a novel as has ever been written.
Right now at this supposed University [ Northampton was once famous for making shoes ] there are faculty members who are eagerly awaiting their new jobs in the Ministry of Truth.
Fiction becomes Fact.

There is no arguing Orwell's book was fiction predicting a future reality.

We are living that reality, with one huge difference. Large numbers of us arent playing.

He's just another apologist for the POC. And you know who started imperialism and colonialism,.....not White people but the POC.

The worst warmongers in history have been the POC/non-Whites. The Assyrians, Carthaginians, Persians, Huns, Islamic Arab Jihad, Mongols, Tamerlane, Ottoman Turks, Shaka Zulu, Imperial Japanese Army, Stalin, Mao-Tse-Tung, Pol-Pot, North Koreans, Idi Amin Dada, Osama, et al.

Hitler himself was allied with the Yellow Japs, which led to his downfall, when they attacked White America, instead of Communist Russia.

Orwell originally planned on calling it 1948 but his publisher demurred.
A little too close to the bone perhaps?
Orwell worked for Brit Intelligence in WW2 which must have been an uncomfortable experience on both sides.
I've been amused by Lefty Woke people I know ranting about "Fascism just like 1984!"
When I've said "Ingsoc, you know, English Socialism" it didn't seem to register.
