In the USA we have the 14th amendment, which would not allow this legally. Canada is a possession of the British monarchy. The Queen has the power to dissolve parliament at her discretion.

Are all LGBQ etc people "protected people" in Canada. Does this emergency act block only straight white people from protesting? It certainly seems to be the case. Legislature has not yet voted. We'll see how it goes.

Likely all disabled people are also protected. Don't know who else. Need a Canadian lawyer to clarify.
