Kievan Rus' reached its greatest extent under Yaroslav the Wise (1019–1054); his sons assembled and issued its first written legal code, the Russkaya Pravda ("Rus' Justice"), shortly after his death." It was Rus. Yeah and back then German chronicles were calling Poles Vandals. Its the same people right there. Anyway King Boleslaw Chrobry conquered Kiev in 1018. Does it mean it was Poland at that time? And the funniest thing is a Russian medieval chronicle written by Nestor says clearly Moscow was established by people who came from Lachy and Lachy is just an old name of Poles still used in the East. Does it mean Moscow is really Polish native land? Yet, Russians seem to consider every piece of land they ever occupied their native land, which is just dumb. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82242004 they were called Scythians. when the Scythians returned to their land, now known as Ukraine, they had to fight the offspring of their wives and their slaves, who got together during the Scythians long absence in Persia. the location of the battle took place in an area near Taman Bay or Kerch. its seems obvious that the russians are the descendants of the offspring of scythian women and their slaves. |

And they were all Russians. From the article: "Kievan Rus' (Old East Slavic: Роусь, romanized: Rusĭ, or роусьскаѧ землѧ, romanized: rusĭskaę zemlę, "Rus' land") or Kyivan Rus',[2][3] was a loose federation of East Slavic, Baltic and Finnic peoples in Eastern and Northern Europe from the late 9th to the mid-13th century,[4][5] under the reign of the Rurik dynasty, founded by the Varangian prince Rurik.[5] The modern nations of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine all claim Kievan Rus' as their cultural ancestors,[6] with Belarus and Russia deriving their names from it. The Rurik dynasty would continue to rule parts of Rus' until the 16th century with the Tsardom of Russia.[7] At its greatest extent, in the mid-11th century, it stretched from the White Sea in the north to the Black Sea in the south and from the headwaters of the Vistula in the west to the Taman Peninsula in the east,[8][9] uniting the majority of East Slavic tribes.[4]" |

It was Rus. Actual Russia which is in fact should be called Rossiya was never viewed as Rus at its time. Before becoming Ulus Juchi in time the Golden Horde and later Moscovia it was bearing the name Zalessiye, i.e. behind the forest lands even though the first cities in this Zalessiye were founded by Kyivan princes. The name Muscovit Rus was invented just in 19th century by imperial historiographers to justify the heritage of Rus. |
