Homemade Butter
A momentary DOOM break. Have you guys ever made homemade butter? I seriously thought you had to have an old-fashioned butter churn and pilgrim outfit lol.

So my 15-year-old daughter asked if we could go buy some heavy cream, I was like yeah, of course but why?

She said she wanted to make butter. She found a video online about how to make homemade butter.

I was proud, intrigued, yet skeptical. So we got heavy whipping cream and already had sea salt.

She whipped it up in a bowl with a hand mixer in about 10 minutes. Mind blown. Maybe most of you knew about this but I didn't and I'm kind of ashamed of myself.

It is the most delicious butter I have ever tasted. Just Heavy Cream and Sea Salt.

I told her she should start a butter business and make all sorts of flavors and sell them at the local farmer's market!

It was a happy night with my daughter (after all the war doom) so just wanted to share.

Re: Homemade Butter
I love making homemade butter! You can also make it in a jar by shaking the cream up. It takes awhile that way.. like 20 to 30 minutes .. but good if you don't have electricity handy.

Re: Homemade Butter
Put raw hole milk in a mayonnaise jar and let the kids roll it back-and-forth to each other on the floor. Is it separates, the skimmed milk is removed leaving the solids. Continue rolling the jar until you come up with butter . Add a small amount of salt for flavor and as a preservative.

I remember doing it in kindergarten.. We had the cream in a jar and kept shaking it and passing it all around until in turned into butter. The teacher served it to us on saltine crackers for a snack.

She put MUCH salt lol. She warned me, she was like I know you don’t like to use lots of salt lol. I truly was just happy, really just happy to have a teenager in this day and age, come up with this herself.

She’s asleep now but I’ll ask her in the morning. It was a pint of heavy cream, she used the whole pint and I don’t know how much salt but I’ll ask when she wakes up in the morning.

I couldn’t believe it. I was thinking okay okay, make honey butter, cinnamon butter, or herbs/spices. I was envisioning her at the Farmer’s market already. She’s so awesome.

We made butter as a class project in kindergarten. I still remember it more than 40 years ago.

The teacher put heavy cream in a 1 quart mason jar and capped it. We all sat in a circle and took turns shaking the jar for a minute then pass it on to the next kid.

It turned into butter and the teacher gave us all a slice of home made bread with our home made butter on it, and we all got to taste the buttermilk too.

It was one of the coolest things ever in my life up to that point.

They really do. My oldest will be 18 in a week so there goes part of my heart. My youngest (the butter maker) just turned 15. I ask her every single day to go for a walk, watch something on Netflix, go for a drive, just hang out, it’s like pulling teeth but I ask.

When they actually want to spend time with me, my heart grows three sizes

Put raw hole milk in a mayonnaise jar and let the kids roll it back-and-forth to each other on the floor. Is it separates, the skimmed milk is removed leaving the solids. Continue rolling the jar until you come up with butter . Add a small amount of salt for flavor and as a preservative.
 Quoting: Buzzard Bait

Let them? You would have to force kids to do that boring shit.
