NJ city council votes to suspend business licenses of Lukoil gas stations which are owned by Americans who buy American refined gas cause Russia

Lukoil is a franchise of a subsidiary of a Russian company.

He said Lukoil franchise owners would be out of business, ceasing to generate economic activity, tax revenues, and salaries that feed families.

Roger Verma, who owns a Lukoil franchise on McCarter Highway near Route 78, said he was “baffled” by the council’s action. Verma said his gas is supplied by Phillips 66 at the Bayway Refinery in Linden and that he and his 16 employees are all New Jersey residents who pay business and income taxes in the state. They have nothing to do with Russia other than owning and working at a franchise of a U.S. subsidiary of a private Russian oil company.
