JERICHO - doom for the US in real life?

Just watched last night's episode of Jericho. I have always had hope for the US in the past but now I think it is hopeless. Reflecting...

Even now everything we search or write on the Internet is archived and sold. You can't enter a store without being video taped so even if you use cash, you can be tracked. Your healthcare information is public to everyone but you - HIPPA is a joke. There is no such thing as a free press. Our government has sold us out.

But most disconcerting of all is that most people either don't see it [are they blind!] or don't care.

If/when the government enacts martial law [linking back to the Jericho theme], what if anything could a regular citizen do? Nothing! We are doomed.

How could you fight back when surveillance would be everywhere, where your cowardly or apathetic neighbor would turn you in even if you did nothing. I am sad.

Is there hope?
