These are a good idea to have on hand if you're behind on your Geiger counter prepping.

You can find more information on the web if you're interested.

Potassium iodide: What is does and how it works to prevent you from Thyroid cancer in you find yourself and your family in a nuclear fallout situation.

Basically your thyroid utilizes iodine to produce and control hormones in you body (T4,T3,TSH). Typically speaking our body is constantly starving for iodine from it environment.

During a nuclear explosion many different radioactive isotopes are produced due to fission. I-131 is one of those short lived isotopes.

Unfortunately, our bodies can't distinguish between different forms of iodine, so our thyroid absorbs as much iodine form any source until it is unable to store anymore.

Potassium iodide can super saturate your thyroid, thus not allowing any I-131 to be absorbed and this protects your thyroid from cancer in the future.

There are many online links that sell potassium iodide, like this one for example.

NBC mask and why you need them for nuclear fallout.

The two types of radiation that would cause you to have to wear a gas mask are Alpha and Beta particles. Both of these types of radioactive particles are easily stopped by a gas mask.

Alpha radiation is a low energy particle that quickly loses energy as it travels from its source. It’s able to be stopped by a little more than an inch of air, a very small amount of water (.008″) and even unbroken skin.

Beta radiation is another relatively low energy particle. It’s stopped by 10′ of air, 2″ of water, a thin layer of metal or glass, and heavy clothing.

The main problem posed by Alpha an Beta particles are caused when you inhale the materials emitting it. Your skin can stop the Alpha and Beta particles when it’s outside your body, but your internal organs aren’t able to do the same thing. This allows these particles to continuously radiate your body from the inside out once you’ve inhaled them.

Here is one of many links to the type of mask you might want to look for.

Decontamination from fallout before you enter your home

If you find yourself in a nuclear fallout situation and you have made it home or to a safe area (bunker). Before you come into the safe zone you will need to decontaminate yourself so you don't spread radioactive contaminates where you're hold up at.

Basic Home Depot/Lowes stores will provide you with the typical hand held pump spray containers, tarps, absorbent pads/rolls...

However, you might want to look into what is the proper way to decontaminate yourself and your equipment.

Here are a couple of links that provide methods and detergents utilized by the nuclear power industry.

I've had a Nukalert for 12 years now, and it's still alive.

You need a low rate geiger counter and a high rate - the nukalert qualifies for the high rate counter.

1 star for you

Radiation is a hoax. You've been on this site for how long? And you still don't know huh? Pretty sad

There's videos of engineers swimming in spent fuel tanks

Literally nobody has died from "radiation" related diseases around Fukushima or anywhere in Japan. No increase in cancer or anything. Trees and wildlife not affected at all even 10 miles from the "nuclear" plant

These things are all meant to scare you. Invisible boogie monsters. Just like this "virus" that's supposed to be contagious. Lol.

Try to catch up guy.

Tyvek Suits for outer layer contamination protection

These over garments will protect your clothing from airborne radioactive contamination. These items will make the process of decontaminating yourself and your equipment quicker. Utilize the Tyvek suit with rubber gloves and boots.

Here is one of many links for you to look at.

Berkey (BLACK) Water fliters removes 98% of radioactive isotopes from your drinking water.

If you're concerned about the safety of your drinking water in regards to radioactive contamination, you might want to look at these filters from Berkey.

If you run it through a Zerowater after the Berkey, it will take out ALL the contamination.

Zerowater uses the same deionization resins that nuclear power plants use.

Set the Berkey on top of the Zerowater, and use the tap to full the Zerowater up.

Yup. I have these. In case you didn't know, if you bought in say 2012-2015 it is best to send them back for a battery change and recalibration. I did that over the summer. Nice guy to work with as well.
