I don't care which one they pick, just pick one and stop this changing clocks twice a year is bullshit! Like I have been saying since the 90s just move the clocks up 30 minutes in Spring or back 30 minutes in fall and never change the damn clocks again. Enough of of this stupid shit.

agreed...in elementary school ...i went to a school that used the 'pace' system...all these workbooks...i skipped a grade doing that system...two years of 'paces' in one year...

I vote to just leave it as is: Standard time in fall/winter, DST in spring/summer.

They NEVER gave a good explanation of why they expanded daylight savings time in 2007 either. Extended it by 7 weeks. Some bull about energy consumption - what if the reason is indeed they are stealing time from us straight up - it's always felt like daylight " savings" time was really theft- they always have to tell you what they're doing -

How many of you know who created DST?

First of all: it's singular and not plural; the correct term is Daylight Saving Time and not "Savings."

But, it was Benjamin Franklin in 1784 who first proposed it. KNOW WHY? To save on expensive candles and Whale oil that were used for lighting! But since we haven't used candles/oil for general illumination in about 200 years there's no solid reason to still have daylight saving time unless it's to cut the high cost of electrical bills... and you gotta' know that DST won't keep people from still flipping those light switches on even during the day!

Here are few other facts about the scam that is daylight saving time:

-DST was pretty much ignored until England dredged it up again and the British Summer Time Act was passed by Parliament in 1916, when it was the SAME THING all over again: WWI was raging and their rationale was to save precious COAL... which wasn't even used for lighting. But during wartime, people will do just about anything a government decrees so they went along like good little sheep.

-It was actually the transportation industry -led by the Greyhound Bus Company and several railroad lines- who got the Department of Transportation on their side and together strongly lobbied Congress to pass a law changing the clocks back and forth. This coercion went on until 1966 when Congress finally passed the Uniform Time Act. And once again the reason was purely economic and had nothing remotely to do with making people's lives easier... or kiddies safer.

Those bus/train companies only wanted it because fewer people liked to climb aboard in the dark and once that extra hour kicked in, more passengers bought their tickets -since in the 1960's both modes of transportation were more commonly used. But how many people still ride buses and use trains for travel outside a few high-volume corridors? In Europe, yes; in the U.S. not so much!

-today there are about 70 nations that observe some form of DST... but it's still for the same reason: it means more MONEY for them in the long run.

And let's not overlook the fact that the universal acceptance of DST still serves as a barometer of just how much citizens will allow their lives to be artificially controlled by TPTB. Think about that one...!

Sorry for the confusion, I meant most kids that walk to school are walking because their parents have to send them out the door when they are leaving for work. Often times some of these parents who have their children walking to school either ride share with co-workers or have to get on a bus themselves.

When I was a parent, I drove my kids to school because I didn't trust the world we live in to let them walk alone to school. I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom. In the past kids could join up with other kids and walk together, but these days with people having fewer kids usually these kids have to walk all by themselves.

I serve as a crossing guard for my local school district, and as a crossing guard, I am concerned about the safety of our kids who walk to school. With fewer and fewer parents able to afford cars there are increasingly more kids having to walk to school or get on a bus. The buses come earlier and the kids will be waiting at bus stops in the dark.

It's safer for an adult to run errands and such in the dark than it is for a child to walk alone to school in the dark. As far as mowing the grass and yard work, you wouldn't be doing that in the fall and winter months. There is plenty of daylight in the Spring and summer to get out and doing things after work.
