If I didn't cut it myself it would not be worth it. I work from home so I can feed my fire all day and the heater stays off. I spend about 2-3 hours every month on the wood pile to keep it stocked. My wood stove won't stop pipes from freezing however... Ask how I know! But we can do just the wood stove in the spring. In February we'd have to shut down some of our water pipes.
