I had a friend that served on a carrier in the 80s and had told me of seeing the water in the south Pacific glowing at night. I don't know if it's true or not but I've never considered the guy a bullshitter

What your friend is talking about is a chemical reaction called bioluminescence. It causes the water to glow and is amazing to see. I had never heard of it till my first deployment and always enjoyed seeing it.

We saw 2-3 lights in Egypt while flying near the Pyramids on way to desert storm. We were at about 20kish feet and lights were buzzing around below us. Had no idea what they were. Really messed up EWO sensors for a while. Lot of electronic noise I suppose?

Flight crew was just saying hey, wonder what those are but no UFO talk. EWO thought his sensors broke but it cleared up as we left area.
