Anyway, I am just saying EVERY encounter with him, she said he hit her in the face.

She's a somewhat celebrity, so you would think if she was getting hit in the face EVERY DAY, there would be more evidence.

Today was the first day I decided to watch a little bit of this trial.

I chose to tune in right at this testimony and then couldn't leave.

I have never seen anything like this.

My opinion is this woman had enough MONEY to get away, but stayed. Why?
She makes out with what’s his name in the elevator and in her husbands place.
Like that is serious provocation.

She tries to look and act innocent, but she isn’t young anymore and she sure as heck doesn’t look innocent. And, the ACLU does her articles for her?

She’s no dummy and she isn’t innocent. She just jumping onto that ME2 band wagon.

I know!! I started watching on and off a few days ago, but once the amber show started it was kind of hard to quit watching.

Her talent was wasted on B films - haha

Was the scene of Depp have sex with a witch in Dark Shadows foreshadowing.

He seems to like living out his fictions in reality.

Proof that it is hard for a celebrity to find a wife.

I saw his French wife on television in France in the early nineties.

She was a hottie superstar teen queen of French television.

When I heard he married her, I thought of course.

I would have crossed a giant street in Paris to see her if I spotted her, and in a small place like France, that was a real possibility.

How did he lose her?

I don't follow the celebrity gossip, but this seems to have risen to the level of cultural phenomenon.

Just something new to show against marriage.

I hate that I wasted all that time today, but dang, the dramatics were simply fascinating.

It does sound like Amber tried at first, but she is crazier than he is.

Johnny has been wearing a number of rings for years now. I am thinking if he hit a person in the face on the daily, they might get cut by one of the rings. Of course, i don't know how he rolls in his own house. Maybe that's a ring-free zone.

As a former Cocaine Snorter, Smoker and other silly ways to ingest a drug.. I can say that without question or doubt.. that crazy woman did a big ass bump of coke right on the witness stand… ON TV WITH LOTS OF PEOPLE WATCHING.

Someone in that spot.. that does that.. has zero credibility, has no dignity for the Courts, and does not give a shit about what anyone thinks about them, because they are rich and famous and you are all suckers.

OP here, and I'm baaaaack! But since I'm now running 1-2 days behind in even watching this testimony, don't expect any tedious play-by-plays as provided earlier in this thread.

Instead I'll offer my own impressions of what transpires on that witness stand. But already two things have jumped out at me in the past several days...

On page two of this thread I suggested that makeup would play a bigger role in this drama than the cover-ups that Amber's attorneys alleged and it's starting to sound like I was right: that she painted those injuries on herself using a "Bruise kit" common in the movie industry. These are little $30 pallets of color specially blended to simulate a wide range of dermal wounds and every crisis actor knows just what I'm talking about. And just such a bruise kit has indeed been mentioned in court as Amber was being grilled like a fish on a Char-broil.

Bruises are among the easiest injuries to paint but still go a little beyond Amber's amateurish attempts; real ones begin with skin reddening before passing into a dull gray as blood settles beneath the surface. As healing proceeds over the next few days that color fades into a sickly yellowish-brown as normal skin tones return. But none of this is present in the courtroom pics where you only see crude smears of gray on her face... and no signs of swelling.

The Technicolor red of her "split lip" was another glaring error; I've had a few in my life and -like a "broken nose"- the most telling sign is immediate swelling and you certainly DON'T smile broadly after getting either one as she did in those Bahamian photoshoots. But the clincher for me was when Amber testified that early in her film career she once worked as a makeup techie... and gave a little smirk as she said it. BIG hint, there!

And then there's the sensational rape with the Whisky bottle. On page three of this thread I listed several lurid Hollywood trials beginning with the 1922 manslaughter circus involving Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. In that case the fat funnyman was accused of drunkenly vaginally assaulting "actress" Virginia Rappe with a Coke bottle [or Champagne bottle, depending upon which press you read] before heaving his considerable bulk on top of her and bursting her bladder as he did so. She died four days later and Fatty was no longer funny. And just like today's "woke" atmosphere, the public & press of the 20's devoured those ugly details like a free Chinese buffet. With Lobster. My guess is that Amber heard [no pun intended] about that old case and glommed onto that gruesome -but false- accusation. As one might do when one is bat-shit crazy.

BTW: speaking of woke, I've also been studying the gallery of voyeurs sitting in the cheap seats of that courtroom and have noticed more than a few grim-faced women -who have no doubt been battered themselves- passing judgement based upon their own nightmarish experiences. I must wonder if through all their personal pain and anguish they can see beyond Amber's histrionics of mental illness or automatically agree with every epithet she utters? I suspect it's painful for some and enraging for others. As the old saying goes, "misery loves company" and there's plenty to go around in Fairfax county, Virginia, these days.

Fatty Arbuckle endured two trials that resulted in hung juries before a third one fully exonerated him and even issued a formal personal apology. But the damage was done and he spent several years banished from the screen. The final irony came the night before he was to sign a new major contract when he died of a heart attack at the age of 46.

But do I think Johnny will end up the same way that Roscoe did? HARDLY!

First of all Depp is 25x the actor old Fatty ever was and even if his film career sags from all this hideousness, his skilled performances will still be in heavy demand. And even if that proves not to be the outcome he can always -and happily- return to his music... the one true, unconditional love of his life.

And even IF she wins Amber won't be so lucky because, #1 she's just not THAT good of an actress and, #2 if anyone ends up prematurely on a Coroner's slab it'll likely be her... or her next miserable partner who may not get off with just a sliced-off finger. Because after her contrived exhibitions in that witness box, she'll be lucky to get a Maybelline ad once L'Oreal finally kicks her ass to the curb.

Meanwhile, in 'Vegas OTB saloons cash is changing hands faster than on a Pawn Stars rerun... and current odds are running solidly in Johnny's favor. So as this Hollywood horserace from Hell gallops toward the final stretch get those dollars out and place your watercooler bets because this one just may come down to the wire in a photoshopped finish.

BTW: while this trial has progressed I've gone back and re-watched Johnny's films, including all five PIRATES titles as well as the little-seen THE BRAVE, which was his 1997 directorial debut.

And if you go back and watch the last PIRATES film Depp's personal turmoil is evident in the dialogue he rewrote for Jack Sparrow... his screen time is also limited and when he is on-camera that usual sparkle is absent, testimony to what Amber was putting him through at the time. But Disney did do a superb job of using CGI to erase those bandages he wore during virtually all of the production!

In contrast, THE BRAVE is a dvd that's kinda' hard-to-find, but well-worth watching if you can. As Producer/Director/star, Johnny never even released it in the U.S. when it was savaged after the premiere at Cannes. But, it's unique for several reasons...

Slated to be a Disney Touchstone release, THE BRAVE was shelved in 1993 when original director, Aziz Ghazal, murdered his wife and daughter before committing suicide... his body not discovered by police until over a month later. Johnny optioned the script and Touchstone amazingly green-lighted the movie which itself has a dark narrative.

The film is also where Johnny met -and briefly plays opposite- Marlon Brando, typically mumbling as he emotes his way through his few scenes. But, Brando took on the roll free of charge because the storyline involves the desperate plight of impoverished Native Americans, a cause which was very close to both Brando's and Depp's hearts. It was a "Passion Project."

Johnny plays an alcoholic Indian named Raphael who drifts in/out of jail while struggling to support his family in a crowded, dingy little trailer that's parked next to a garbage dump where residents scavenge and sell whatever treasures they can find among the heaps of trash.

Then Raphael gets an offer he can't refuse: $50,000 payable to his family if he appears in a snuff film... with the Producer played by -you guessed it- Brando. After a little soul-scouring Raphael accepts the deal and throws one last big party for his wife, kids and wild assortment of destitute friends in his remaining week of life.

It's slow, heady stuff and it's too bad more people haven't seen this compelling little gem that vividly depicts the lengths a man will go to in protecting his loved ones. Just like Johnny did himself when he lied to Doctors about Amber slicing off his finger...
