What is the symbol in the lower left corner of the pic? Just beyond the first wall on the second wall, to the left of the lone person with the white hat. It circular with something in the center.

My gut feeling is that this is some sort of "initiation" area rather than a ceremonial plaza.

For some reason I can't get the image of a bridge with water below it out of my head. Where else could those stairs lead?
