Anonymous Coward User ID: 80169849 Canada 04/19/2022 04:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | a few days ago I paid Cdn. $1.29 each for limes. Lemons were 99cents each. Prices are crazy here in the North. I worked in produce at a Saskatchewan chain and the stuff we were throwing out for the farmers about 6 months ago are now 'acceptable ' to put out for the public....at premium prices. And that 'fresh' salad you picked for lunch??.... that was only fresh 3 days ago and has been recycled to minimize shrink. Prices are absolutely nuts but the most ridiculous I think has to be 18$ for a 750 gram brick of cheese, plain old run of the mill farmers cheese that up until "no more mean tweets" had been roughly 5-6$. |

It is not that difficult to make biscuits and bread - especially this day and age when YouTube videos will show you how to do it. When I was a kid fast food was very limited. My mother fed 5 kids and two adults on one chicken and some veggies and some form of bread. Everybody got one piece of chicken... dad got two because he was the bread winner (something that seems to have gone extinct). Mom always bought whole chickens and cut them up herself. We rarely bought frozen or prepared foods. We made our own salad mixes and cut or own French fries, etc. We usually had a small garden that didn't totally feed us, but it did help provide for us. Instead of ham and turkey lunch meat we usually had bologna and salami. Snacks were celery sticks, carrot sticks, occasionally fruit and sometime cheese. We had desert on birthdays and holidays. We cleaned our plates and were grateful for what we had. Nobody went hungry, but we never put more on our plate or asked for more than we could eat. My mom on the other hand grew up during the depression. They had meat once a week, had a garden, and ate lots of greens and biscuits and gravy. Sometimes the meat was wild game or fish. Nobody starved. What will be, will be. Learn to adapt. If you fail to bend you will break. |

Last time there, about 5 months ago, I grabbed 5 jugs at 2.79/each. Stopped by to grab one and the damned thing rang up at 9.79. Mistake? No. He checked and the price was correct on the shelf and in the register. Yeah. No. Keep it. I'm outta here!! |
