Every Man Needs to own a 1911 in .45 ACP

It's an American classic but there are better options these days. Even self defense ammo types have evolved to the point that it's better to have a higher capacity 9mm loaded with something like Federal HST.

I have that, but there is nothing as satisfying as the 'BOOM' of .45 ACP

I was surprised just how fun these are to shoot.
Years back, when I first got one, I was a little intimidated by the size of the round and lack of modern ‘fit’ on it.
None of it was an issue at all…and I can see why this is a tried-and true design that’s remained popular all these years.
Mine is far from fancy as well…but like I said, very fun to shoot and it does the job.

I was given the gun of a Florida SWAT team leader, by himself, to shoot.

It was his personal sidearm a 1911 Para Arms upper I think and the lower built by someone else who I can’t remember. I was warned to watch out for the hair trigger, apparently he liked it that way.

This was basically his go to work, but also ultimate spec favorite gun.


It was sublime to shoot. Wow.

They can be surprisingly inexpensive for entry level.

Still have Navy issued Colt. 37 years old, thousands of rounds through the barrel. Is so worn in it shoots incredibly smooth. Could be cleaned up, but I like it’s used look. And yes the kick...is sooo satisfying.

I had their high capacity version of the 1911 very nice pistol 14+1 rounds of .45

Now I just run with a Glock 21 in .45 although I have owned numerous 1911’s and enjoy shooting them. Classic firearm

Look at the SIG P238. Mini 1911, but its a .380 And spendy.
