I grew up in Nebraska. This is actually not unusual in late spring. I experienced it many times myself growing up. Flowers would be blooming, grass would be green, and then BAM - we would get a blizzard.

Ice cores don't lie, this is nothing new to mother earth it's we who think it's a catastrophe.
