I'm conflicted. Legally speaking Alito has a point. An abortion is a medical procedure that can be regulated. The U.S. government regulates drugs and medical procedures for the safety of the population all the time. In theory you do not have the right to do whatever you want to your body. You do not have the right to put whatever you want into your body. Even relatively safe drugs are regulated and limited. You need to obtain a prescription for certain medications. Other medications are outright illegal. Certain plastic surgeries are illegal. Some regulations for plastic surgeries are law.

Many doctors will not perform abortions after a certain time. Many will not prescribe medications because they deem them dangerous and addictive even when they could legally prescribe them. Abortions in the first trimester are relatively safe. Contraceptives and the morning after pill are relatively safe. There really is no need for states to put extreme limits on any of this. Just as mandating vaccines was wrong. Compare abortion factories. It is not good for the soul, but everyone's journey is different and putting extreme restrictions on certain medical care leads to some idiots doing extreme things like seeking out street drugs or back-alley abortions.

Also ... let's be honest here. Black women obtain nearly fifty percent of all abortions. Should hinder their ability to have abortions? No.
