My family has been in the U.P.since the 1600s on Dads side and over a thousand years on the Ojibway side. We are a free people,perhaps the last bastion of individuals who never were "inside the box".
The fireworks are usually from mid December to end of January and July 1st to 31st and any good reason in between so the neighbor should enjoy or just deal with it or go back to Georgia or where ever.
This freedom to vent seems to make everyone more tolerant and peacefull.This keeps the crime rate down.
Although almost everyone over 12 owns a gun,and hunts for food in winter;this town has had only one murder every ten years and it is usually people who know each other,or tourists...few breakins because no one has cash laying around. We leave the door unlocked in hopes someone will leave something rather than take something.
