So what exactly is the military value of this island?
Cant figure out why they keep making this an issue...could you set up missle sites or something? Seems really weird to me, but there are all sorts of wierd military WW2 battles on obscure places I always find interesting, even if they meant absolutely nothing...
Quoting: pish Agreed... It may have potential as an unsinkable aircraft carrier, but one good sized thermobaric bomb should render it useless. I guess ownership gives potential International Waters... Much like the Falkland Island / Malvinas are to the UK / Argentina. It's all about oil, gas and mineral rights and handling thereof.
