Whats the best breed of dog to have in the upcoming doom, prepper situation?

Cane corsos are great however if you can get a black Fila brasiliero even better. A lot of people do not consider the black fila brasiliero true fila brasilieros, due to the admixture of Neapolitan Mastiff or Cane Corso. Larger than the cane corso and the way their body moves is a lot more like a mountain lion than a dog. They are twice as protective dangerous as a Cane Corso

They are intimidating. But to me have a great loving face....However I dont know that breed at all...

i went to Christmas at moms house, this year . I,ll be damned if there werent as many dogs as people. So I started thinking which breed is gonna help in a shtf scenerio...ummmm.

I got 2 GSD's for the occasion.

A well trained German Shepard or a loyal Heeler.

Ive known weiner dog owners, They love them doggies, but honestly they have no purpose. God said, weiner dog and there they were, god giggled....

When someone new shows up at the house they don't pay much attention to the 2 labs barking at them but they damn sure notice my little terrier circling around the back of the raising hell.

When he barks at night I get up because something is up.

GSD is the abbreviation for "German Shepherd Dog"

They're very smart and loyal, and can be quite intimidating.

I help at the local shelter and a lot of the dogs there are of the "dangerous" type.

The only one that ever scared me was a large German Shepherd...

The pitbulls are actually very friendly, but I do think there is something in their DNA that makes them unpredictable or prone to "snapping". Pitbull isn't really even a breed, it's a blanket term for dogs that look a certain way, usually staffordshire terriers.

There's lots of options, I'd be looking at: German Shepherds (or the similar Belgian Shepherd which is more atheletic), Rotweilers, a huge Great Dane is always intimidating, Cane Corso/Presario Corso (these dogs are what I've always pictured when I imagine a demon dark guarding the gates of hell), and Dobermans. It's mostly the intimidating look, as all dogs can be protective. The strongest dog I've dealt with was just a black labrador mix. Thing was average size but it would literally pull and drag you on the leash!

The other thing to consider is if your area has BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) where there is more liability, insurance required, muzzles in public, etc. Around here the list includes "pitbulls", cane corso, staffordshire terriers, American bulldogs (but not English bulldogs).

Surprisingly the list DOES NOT include the rotweiler, doberman, or German shepherd.

I figured if it can take on bears, and wolves, it won't hesitate to take down a bad guy.

We chose Boxers and have 4.

They have great temperaments and are terrific companions. I grew up with them and so did my kids. Their bark sounds big and they can looked.

We just got a puppy to balance out the 2 male, 2 female...ah shit, "balance" justified it. We saw her and had to have her.

I would think any dog that can warn you of danger is great. The dog is most likely not going to rip the throat out of an attacker. Even if it does, you will probably lose your dog.

You don't want a little dog that will bark every time a cricket facts, literally crying wolf.

In my mind, dogs are great alarms, hopefully giving me the time ñnI need to aim.

Breed is not important, personality traits are. Has to be loyal, obedient and be able to eat whatever.

A larger fierce chihuahua. They have excellent hearing and will be the bell that rings alerting the bigger dog, ie Rottie or Dobie or Chow.

The best dog to have hands down is a German Shorthaired Pointer GSP.

This dog will joyfully and successfully hunt 23 hours a day and they dont eat alot
