The insane driving that I’ve seen since the weather warmed up is extreme, even for the NY metro area. I think a lot of anger and possibly fear is coming out in how people drive. Also, inflation and the political situation (aka stolen election) in the country isn’t helping any.

The absolute worst, bar none, are drivers of large non-commercial pickup trucks. Extreme aggression, excessive speed in close traffic, road rage, idiotic maneuvers like tailgating inches away at highway speeds, brake-checking for nonexistent offenses, the whole nine yards. Gotta be 80% of them acting this way. Trucks are usually black or white (never a happy color), with huge tires that stick out well beyond the fenders, “Punisher” decal on the rear window, loud aftermarket exhaust and dark tinted windows... it’s like there’s a factory somewhere in Jersey churning these things out, lol.

Oh, and if you can get a look at the driver, he (always a he) almost always fits a kind of pattern: tight haircut or shaved head, black work tattoos, wrap-around extra-dark sunglasses and that fat-faced, piggy look that comes from anabolic steroid use and/or eating too much pork. Nice...

Man, I think things are only going to get worse from here on out.

I drive a diesel truck, a one ton dually.

If I drive at 65-70 which barely keeps up with the traffic, I get maybe 14 MPG.

If I slow down and set cruise control to 54, I get over 21 MPG.
