The biggest thing is learning the language here, most people only speak Spanish. I never studied it, in fact I studied German and French, I picked it up through immersion but I'd reccomended studying at least some wherever you go.

Through my wife i got my 2nd passport, along with our kids. I think i trust my wife, that her country of origin is safe and welcoming to us. Similar situation here, but I went to an isolated area and made an effort to assimilate. I'll never go back. The beaucracy in this country is insane, but the way of life is worth it.

An earlier poster mentioned high property prices in Europe, this may be true in Northern Europe, but if you can deal with it, look to places a long way from the cities. Your 300k will buy you a farm if you shop smart.

Look at some of the Greek islands, good climate, relaxed living and great food, if that's your thing. Many expats everywhere too.
