Mormons moved in, in the late 1800's (to the best of my recollection). They thought they were in AZ or UT, but were indeed in NV. The state of NV decided to tax them so many left and then Hoover Dam was launched. One man stayed to the very end - paddled away in a boat as the water lapped at his house. As for fires, no one will come back to help those who wish to stay and if the roads are choked off your phooked. NM has seen 30 red flag windy days from April 1st to May 13th. I posted this because of the shear amount of communities - not sure I've ever seen this many before. |
