Anonymous Coward User ID: 81393838 United States 05/21/2022 09:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My dog died in Jan. She had to be put down due to congestive heart failure. Her last day she wouldn't look at me and she kept vomiting. A week earlier she had to go to the emergency vet due to fainting and a blueish tongue. That is when I found out she had CHF. They put her on heart meds. Three weeks before that the vet said her heart sounded good and put her on meds because she was having seizures. The day she was put down I brought her to the vet to change her heart meds due to the vomiting. The vet suggested I put her down because she also had a large abdominal tumor - (six months earlier I brought her to the vet because her belly looked bloated and the vet said she was just getting fat). I asked if there was any alternative and the vet said just painkillers. No treatment options, so I put her down. Now I am full of guilt that I didn't fight for her or do more for her. I am so sorry for your loss, but please be grateful that your dog passed in its own time. I know grief is terrible, but at least you don't have guilt too, you let your dog choose when to go. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82904371 Do we look for answers when a 98 year old dies? Take solace in the fact it was relatively quick and natural. It’s much harder when you have to call it, and almost always after they suffer too long. That's not true. A dog's age does not equal 7 human years for 1 dog year. The dog would have an equivalent age of 72 |

Remember the times you had with him and grieve a bit. Then start looking around for a breed you would enjoy. You'll see the best of your dog in the new puppy. Dogs are here to teach us not to take ourselves too seriously and to live life for the moment. Very sorry for your loss OP. Do not thump the book of G'Quan Oh and, Fuck Joe Biden! |

However, 14 is a full life for a dog (some live a few years longer, but not many). Mine are both 12 now. One is still pretty active, the other has been getting "old dog syndrome" where they stumble around as if they're drunk, and she's also losing her eyesight. Circle of life. He probably just died of old age. Unjabbed - Take Dayquil or Nyquil if you get the flu |
