Little House on the Prairie was one of my favorite shows growing up as a small child in the 70's.

So wholesome. No green haired teacher with a nose ring telling me to "come out" to her as transgender.

But I'm watching this intro now, realizing it was filmed in California in the 70's, where if you drove probably just 10 miles off the set you had all the debauchery of 1970's California in your face...

How about the "tenna rotor" that was a box on top of the tv that had a knob for rotating the direction of the motorized antenna on the roof.

When you hear "When I'm 64" on the radio (twice this week) and this launches you into an extended reverie.

The lads were in their late 20s when the song was released. It was a valid, distant question. For me, it was an even more distant question. 64 was unimaginably far into the future.

Paul is pushing 80 now, I think. He achieved 64 years awhile back. Me . . . I have a birthday coming up this week.

I also think about Luke and Obi-Wan. This week in 1977, Luke and I were contemporaries. Old Ben Kenobi was a fossil, according to Han. Sir Alec was 62 in the summer of 1976, when most of the "principal filming" for Star Wars took place. Look who's my contemporary now.

Still have one on the mast, although the control box died years ago. The antenna is now permanently pointed north.
