Yeah, if I were to make a wild guess, I would say he likely intended to hover around at a low altitude in front of the crowd. He probably has a mechanism that controls how quickly fuel is used, and that mechanism is what allows him to go higher and lower. Burn more fuel, and it increases altitude. Burn less fuel, and it slowly loses altitude at a safe pace.

If that mechanism malfunctioned and was locked on its highest setting, it would explain why he shot up so quickly. It would also explain why he plummeted from that height. The jetpack burned through all the fuel rapidly and then dropped.

op certainly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

This kind of activity (I would not call it a job) can make these daredevils heaps of money but they can also lose their lives instantaneously or wreck themselves for the rest of their lives.

They are ready and willing to accept the risk or they would choose something else.

Those will make great Christmas presents!

What first concerned me was the spiralling.

He was doing 360's the entire time like something had malfunctioned and he had lost directional control

At least he didn't have a "flat earth" promotion going on, people would really think he's a whack job!
