This has to be why Elon & his elite buddies want so badly to make it to Mars before the Micro-nova event. They have to be thinking they stand a much better chance of long term survival and a return to planetary dominance if they are ensconced in some cozy underground bunkers many millions of miles further away from the Sun when it pops off.

One wonders how they plan to protect their space craft though. Kind of hard to fit those in an underground bunker. The return trip to Earth will never happen if they get damaged. I'm guessing they will probably want to wait a while before they return - to let things stabilize a bit and for the remnants of humanity to mostly finish killing each other off fighting over resources. Then they will return to start the "real New World Order"...
