Do I really need to clean my gun after every use?
Guys, I'm still vary new to firearms. I have one pistol that I've used just for training purposes. When I was training recently, the trainer told me that I need to clean my Beretta pistol every time after I use it. Is this true, or is he just trying to sell me cleaning supplies?

Thanks

If you don't clean it, it'll shoot backwards

Use quality ammo and a little oiling and clean based on rounds fired or time.

If you are setting the firearm down and not firing for months, you should clean it. If you have put 50+ rounds through a rifle or 150+ rounds through a handgun, you should clean it.

If you step outside and put two 10 round mags through your handgun after dinner every day, you can clean it every couple of weeks.

Clean it before storage!
If your not going to use it for a while!
modern ammo is not as corrosive as it used to be but!
If it is black powder then clean it, oil it!
Care for it as if your life depends on it!

The clean after every use thing was when we were using corrosive primers (decades ago).
If you’re shooting ammo made in the USA, you don’t have corrosive primers.

I have Glocks that I clean (MAYBE) once every 1000 rounds.
My 1911s require cleaning every 250 rounds or so.

If you’re shooting a precision rifle, cleaning the barrel fucks with your accuracy until you get 25 or more rounds through it after cleaning. I almost never clean the barrel of my precision rifle.

My benelli shotgun never has to be cleaned - EVER.

I don’t know much about the beretta.

Just like anything else. If it looks dirty, clean it. You can look at it and tell how much build up is on it.

Yeah and keep it oiled that will help

I'd just put some coconut oil on it and then some ivermetcin paste and every other time I'd dip it in colloidal silver.

People need to take care of their guns properly.

You can get 2 habits.

One, you never clean your gun and it jams when you need it.

Two, you clean it after every time you fire it and it's always ready to go.

Your choice.

Primers are not the issue dip shit...copper and or lead fouling are. I've seen plenty of guys with your cleaning habits bring me shit to fix because of copper or lead fouling.Clean them after every use and it does not build up...and become a chore to clean...

I give a detail cleaning before it goes back in the safe but if I'm shooting the same gun for a few sessions in a week, I run a bore snake and some break free on the moving parts... .....

I hear people practicing and plinking a half mile off through the woods.

So peaceful and soothing.

Just clean it really good with some kind of solvent like alcohol. Use steel wool and scratch it up real good. Then rinse off the gun with water and put into storage without drying it.

Re: Do I really need to clean my gun after every use?
In the army we had to clean our gats after every live fire exercise and after every range shoot.

On exercise we had to clean both our rifles and handguns everyday whether we used them or not.
