Wanna Hear a Funny Gardening Story?
Last year I planted a wild blueberry bush in my wild strawberry planter. It's a large planter and I called it "The battle of the berries".

I wanted to see which one would win. The mature strawberry plants or the young blueberry plant.

What happened you never could have guessed. The strawberries grew over the sides of the planter into the ground and just moved the fuck out.

So now the young blueberry plant has the planter to itself and the strawberries are growing out of the ground around it now.

There was no battle, the strawberries just moved out.

Nature.

I don't think the blueberries will grow yet but the strawberries taste good if you wait until they are almost rotten. They are a darker color and very tasty. Full of sugar.

Re: Wanna Hear a Funny Gardening Story?
Reminds me of when I threw a bunch of random fish in my aquarium and let them figure it out for themselves.

One tiny little cichlid ate the smallest tetra he could find, even though it was too big for him and got stuck in his throat for a week.

But the nutrients made him grow a bit.

Then he ate the rest of the tetras. And then he ate all the rest of the fish, as quickly as he grew big enough to fit them in his mouth.

Nature.

Last year's gardening story was amazing to me. My neighbor put a bell pepper plant near some dark purple basil and one of the peppers was cross pollinated and turned dark purple! Two different plants!

LOL Cool story.

I just picked a cucumber and 3 of the blossoms had fused, it was like triplets. I've seen this on tomatoes before lots of times, but never on cucumbers.

This year is my 4th attempt at a garden. First time I tried felt like a master gardener. Last 2 times complete failure. Hopefully this year and the work put in it will be moderately successful.

You must not have opossums. Those suckers ate my strawberries, so now the plants are all safe in an old birdcage.

I moved on to planting in planters. Only thing in the ground this year is my old oregano bush and the wild strawberries that moved out.

Get your Blueberry bush a friend. Blueberries will yield far moar berries if they cross-pollinate with another variety of blueberry.

I will look into it, thanks!

Will they cross pollinate with the wild strawberries? I saw a bell pepper basil hybrid with my own eyes.

I don't get a very big yield. The blueberry bush is too young yet to even make edible berries. I just snack on them when I barbecue.

There's a grape vine out here too but the grapes only reach the size of peas. Not tasty....

Nope, none of those. Lots of birds, squirrels, chipmunks, some rabbits and the occasional woodchuck. None of them eat the strawberries.

Chichlids dont mess around... My dad was an idiot and put it in with a bunch of more passive, but bigger fish thinking theyd be safe. They give chichlids the red dot sticker for a reason. That fish killed everybody
