How the heck are people going to afford heating oil this winter? | |

If you can’t afford to survive without daddy government stealing my money; go kill yourself. Take out the whole family while your at it, lord knows we don’t need anymore begging mouthed to feed during this upcoming food shortage. I hate you handout seeking bums. There are thousands of begging mouthed to feed marching through Central America as we speak. Get ready for more taxes to feed them. And also that little extra billion "security assistance" Brandon just sent to his friends in Ukraine. Trump wanted to drain the swamp, Joe wants to drain our bank accounts. They won't stop until you're all homeless. You can take that to the bank. And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "Just another soldier reporting, Sir. Ive served my time in Hell" |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83691477 All the pipes will freeze then break in the house. Wrap all water pipes with electric heating tape and insulate. But, there is no proof we will have ELECTRICITY still on at that point. :DOCSRBAFFLED::redblueLED::DONTBEAPANDEMICS: Only you can stop the fake pandemic for yourself, no one will ever tell you the pandemic is over. The Don Of Nantucket User ID: 80692948 United States 06/17/2022 04:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Right now in my state, heating oil is between $4.97 and $5.30 a gallon. This time last year it was $2.67. This is usually the time of year you get a contract with your oil delivery company and lock in the lower summertime price. Quoting: SharknatoTomato If the country is already struggling with supply and demand, I can only imagine what the prices will be when the supply has to be shared with the demand for heating oil as well. I feel like im watching a horrific accident happen in slow motion. Shark... As bad as these prices are lock in the best deal you can because waiting is not going to make it better! Biden is secretly tapping the east coast emergency heating oil reserves already and shipping it out of the country. I repeat. PRICES WILL NOT GET BETTER Get the best price you can and get it PHYSICALLY DELIVERED as soon as possible! There is ZERO GUARANTEE that if you wait or schedule a delivery date a couple months out that they'll have anything to put in your tanks! None of this is fair right or good but the difference between freezing or starving to death or not this winter is going to happen in the next 2-6 weeks! If you can have them deliver at a time when most of your neighbors are at work even better. Also, you need to look at securing your heating oil from thieves or worse. Like I said none of this is good or right but it's happening anyway and NO ONE Has more incentive to keep you and yours alive more than you do! Good advice rouge. I'm in the same boat. It was either that, heat with electricity, or go without heat. Electric heat was very expensive, it could be three times as high as heating with oil, and fuel oil was unavailable most of the time, higher than hell when it was. |

Many propane tanks filled now(before prices go higher) is a good idea. A Little Buddy heater, or better yet spend this summer installing a wood burner and stocking wood. Do both! I hate being cold the older I get…. |

I'm NOT a shill...I've been on this fucking site twenty years on and off...it DOES matter what state you are in... OBVIOUSLY some states are colder than others!! If you're in Michigan where I once lived, you're gonna be in big trouble if you're trying to pay for heat...rather than if you're in my state I moved to . . Alabama...that's one reason of several I moved south. Can't believe I had to explain this to you |

Quoting: Butch DeFeo Question: Is propane smart at this point?? Expense? I have a gel fuel fireplace and a wood burner. Depending on how big your house is, and where the plumbing is run, is where you need to concentrate the heat. I have a small house, so between the wood burner cook stove and the gel fuel fireplace, I can keep the pipes from freezing and keep the temp at least tolerable in the house. Anonymous Coward User ID: 83665434 South Africa 06/17/2022 04:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm in the Southern hemi, and even in the warmest province of my country, we are having a Brutal winter. I cannot afford to use an electric heater and it will be a few weeks before i can afford one that runs on gas. The 3kg cannisters are almost 500 bucks at the cheapest supermarket chain in this country. Idk what i'm gonna do. I mean i will be able to afford it but fuckin hell..the specs say that on average, a 5kg cannister gives you 28 hours on max. So a 3kg one will have to be refilled so often. Its a bloody nightmare. And i've always been a great lover of winter because the humidity in summer here is unbearable. My hands were actually having spasms from the cold this afternoon. Seems the planet is getting extreme seasonal temps this year, in both hemispheres. Maybe near the equator it's somewhat comfortable. The Congo feels like a good place to be right now. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83665434 500 dollars for a 5 kg canister? I don't think so. Is that a typo? Which country are you in? Oh no that's in ZAR, the mickey mouse currency of South Africa, where i live. Also, its 500 bucks here for a 3kg canister, they didn't have 5kg ones at Shoprite downtown. My son and i happened to walk down the aisle where the gas canisters are, i guess 3kg is a popular size for heaters and 2 plate stoves. I'm used to using the large tanks on the big gas stove i used to have, those go for 1 900 ZAR but they last for ages. Thing is, about half of the population use electricity not on a monthly municipal account, but bought from a supermarket. The cashier then gives you a slip with digits to enter into a little interfacing box connected to the wall power box. You then get a certain amount of units, depending on how much power you paid for, eg 100/200 ZAR. Once that runs out, your power is auromatically shut off. Everything here is ludicrously expensive. Well for locals anyway. Tourists with dollars, pounds or euro can Really get some bang for their buck here. The vast majority of the local population survives on a staple diet of maize meal with a fried onion and tomato sauce. |

My house is SO Freezing cold in the winter and even though I set the thermostat downstairs to 72 it NEVER gets above 63 degrees in the house!! I have NO Heating in the 5 rooms upstairs at all and cannot afford to run an electric space heater , at all . There is no insulation in the attic whatsoever , only single pane windows which will not lock or even stay closed ( They all fall from the top of the windows and leave gaps ) The landlord knows and will do nothing to help me . I can’t move due to being disabled , When that decrepit, evil , wicked Lying Joe Biden repeatedly stated “ Long , Dark, Winter “ over and over , Many never knew but they are about to find out! |
