But I'll give you one most people don't think of. Bro like I said in my OP, there are many ways you can prove the Earth is in fact spherical. I just chose one that I think fairly starkly highlights the main issue - that you can't superimpose the outside of a sphere onto a 2 dimensional surface and still accurately depict the distance between any two points on that surface. Doing so will result in distortion to certain parts of the depiction. Every cartographer knows this. Ergo, assuming we are working with similar understandings of the distances between all the cities on our Earth (a big assumption, I know), a person trying to accurately depict those distances on a plane (a 2d surface) would be unable to do so. Very basic stuff. I encourage anyone who doubts me to give it the old "college try." I'm not even going to get into the other couple hundred reasons or so why the Earth is spherical. Another thread, perhaps.  |
